CD/DVD Drive not being recognized

Hi guys (and girls)

The other day, my computer seemed to totally stop recognizing that my CD/DVD drive even existed. No icon in my computer, with or without a disc in it. More info soon, haven't had much time to look at it, but I'm no expert on this sort of thing, so I will definitely need some help. Anyone who can give me suggestions as to what to look for, it would be much appreciated. Thanks
