Asus G50VT upgrade help!

Hey guys, my wife and I both have Asus G50VT gaming laptops. I'm upgrading them from Vista 64bit to Windows 7 64bit. We both wanted better performance for playing games like World of Warcraft and Diablo 3. I updated hers first, everything went smoothly with the install, reinstalled all the drivers and now she is happy playing WoW smoother and faster than before.

Mine on the other hand, despite being the same exact model is not going too well. Installation of windows 7 went fine. Downloaded the drivers again and loaded up Diablo 3. Right off the bat i noticed it was struggling to run it at all, graphics were lagging, tearing jumping. I noticed on my information center that the RAM usage was normal but on the CPU usage it just sets on 0%. Like it is only running off of one processor. Has anyone ran into this or know of a way to make sure it is running both processors? Under device manager it lists both processors and the drivers are up to date, i even uninstalled the processors and rebooted the system so windows would find and install them. Will running msconfig as administrator help? I went under boot and the box was not checked and the pull down menu for "number of processors" showed 1. I checked the box and set the number of processors to 2. Does that only affect when the machine is booting up? My CPU usage still sits at 0%

It may help to verify that your bios is version 213 for the G50VT. If it is not, then I would recommend to upgrade your bios. Or maybe just reinstall bios if it is updated because sometimes there can be an inconsistent file that puts the bios out of whack and then you will see weird issues.

As a side note, when the device manager lists that the "device is working properly", there could still be an issue due to the device manager is a general/basic system evaluation tool. Maybe you could go to CNET and download a free (but not one of the ads) system checkup tool and that may show you the issue.

You can google, "how to upgrade bios" and find a method that you like if you decide to do it. Some people teach weird so my how to recommendation may not work for you. Also, I would recommend to backup any data on your computer you want to keep. Go to the asus website and also download all drivers (which Im sure you've done since you upgraded your wife's) and have them handy.
