I am using (for another 3 weeks till full upgrade) Gigabyte P35-DS3L, with a q6600, NEVER had a problem with either CPU or Board. Upgrading to a i7-2600k VERY soon!

It's going to depend on what is available in your area, try PC HUB, they have a good selection and the best prices I have found.

The LGA 775 socket will fit the CPUs you mentioned, find a motherboard in your price range at the above link, then go to the motherboard website and look for the CPU/processor compatibility link/info. This will tell you exactly what CPUs can be used on the motherboard.
Also check the RAM compatibility link/info, some LGA socket mobos have DDR3 RAM slots.
I would stay with Gigabyte or Asus, but other motherboards manufacturers are good as well.

For a SSD you will be better off to have a SATA II or III connection available.

Seeing as my processor isn't great, I was thinking about upgrading in about a year or so. My mobo has an LGA775 socket and therefore only supports the Pentium and Core 2 series. Is the best processor I can get the Core 2 Extreme? And a I right in saying that it's slightly overpriced? In the...
