    Need suggestion for new Rig.

    Hello. My cousin wants to buy a new PC that can handle HD movies and latest games without any problem. His budget is 1000$. May I request you to suggest all the components within this budget?

    Motherboard
    CPU
    RAM
    Graphic Card
    Cabinet
    PSU

    Monitor, Keyboard and mouse are there, so no need to buy them.

    Also, If I missed any part. Please feel free to add them.

    When you say latest games, please give an example and what resolution he wants to play at. And expected frames.

    That's an extremely broad and vague request. What did you have in mind for processor family? Let's start there.

    Thanks James7679 and DeaconFrost for your quick reply.

    Resolution will be between 1620 to 1920*1080. FPS=> 50 to 55

    I was also checking and found some configuration. What do you think on this configuration?

    M/B = Gigabyte z68 ds3
    Graphic card = XFX 6870
    CPU= i7 26K
    RAM = 16GB DDR3 Corsair
    Cabinet = Coolermaster HAF 912
    SMPS =Coolermaster 650 W

    I have three of those cases....excellent for the cost. Everything looks good, but you might not need 16 GB of memory. 8 GB would be a good spot for a gamer right now.

    looks like that's over $1k to me. Sooo...
    I would lose the 2600k if he's not SLIing, go for the 2500k and only 8gb of RAM. No on the Coolermaster PSU. Seasonic makes a 520 watt that will suffice. The case, well, that's up to what he likes. MoBo is great.

    Reason for choosing 16GB of RAM was the price. It is pretty cheap here. So, I thought we might upgrade the rig in future. Why not now. Who knows prices might shoot up....

    That's a fair point. However, just keep in mind if you need to squeeze out a little more room in the budget, you could lower to 8 GB without and loss of performance for now.

    Thanks a lot guys. Really appreciate that. I will go with 25K and 8GB. Any suggestions on the graphic card?

    what's the balance after the aforementioned items are in the cart? Always pick the single strongest GPU you can afford.

    Also, I missed HDD or SSD in that last somewhere. And OS...
