How the names are shown in win 7 ?

You can anytime rename those, by right clicking on the partition's icon in explorer window.

the name is going back to local disk
every amator person know that by renaming drive or propertis of the drive and type a name in general part of it , must it chage to new name , but its not changing and going back to first local drive name

Are you talking about changing the drive letter or renaming the drive? They are 2 completely different things. Changing the drive letter is fairly simple and done in Disk Management. Renaming the drive is done in explorer and is very simple. Please let us know which you are trying to do.

Hi Golduser

You might want to check with the firewall, antimalware, and antivirus you have with you Windows Seven.

As I did notice in my office there are some firewall, antimalware, and AV programs that is preventing explorer from displaying the external drive name (some even internal drive) though the name is exist when connected to other machines.

You do it in explorer. highlight the drive, right click it and select rename, rename it, provide administrator permission and it should be renamed.

problem in my drive name in wndows 7-z2.jpg

Now you see the drive renamed

It did happened to me months ago. I got antivirus that keep blocking some self-loaded files like autorun.inf and desktop.ini from any external USB disks, it also prevented the system to read the disk labels (except any disk formatted by the running system).
But when I change my antivirus to MSE, all my external drives just got their names back.

I don't if you got different issue there.

Kevin.

My new PC with Wndos 7 can't read the files on CD-RW's made with my old PC with Wndos 98"E. I get the message "file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". Also, I can't write to those CD's in Wndos 7. I get the message that the CD is full when in fact the CD-RW has a lot of space left. Any help?

Install Wndows 7 without an optical drive on a brand new computer?
Alright. I am somewhat a beginner to this. My mother wants to buy a small laptop (13.3'' toshiba t130D). When I went to the store to buy it, the salesman told me that I need to pay 85$ to get windows 7 installed on it since it has NO OPTICAL DRIVE. It seems like a rip-off... I was wondering......
