Noob style question: I can't upgrade my GPU?!

HP Envy 14-2160se. Radeon HD 6630M graphics that is switchable (with the i5's integrated), but I just keep it on fixed mode and switch everything at once when I want. I'm now learning I can't upgrade my graphics card? It's soldered onto the motherboard? I thought that's what the integrated graphics was.. Soldered on. I didn't know my GPU was as well. I can't upgrade this? And I'm being told only very few laptops can have the GPU upgraded. If this is true, why all the simple tutorials about swapping them out? I didn't think this would be an issue.

The integrated graphics are in the CPU the discrede graphics are a card on the motherboard, usually. That's what you are switching between. On most laptops the CPU and/or the GPU and soldered on. Although I have never tried, I would imagine if the motherboard is built for switchable graphics, you would mess a lot of stuff up by changing them. And most laptops have locked bios, so there is no option there for you to change.
