    Bluetooth 4.0 driver installation problem

Hi, this is my first post here so be gentle!

Recently I got a bluetooth 4.0 dongle from ebay (china, so that might be my problem right there). I figured if my phone has 4.0, might as well use it to its full potential. Now I can install the drivers fine, windows seems to find them by its self, but the only option I have is connect to access point. No file transfer option, which is why I got it in the first place. If I double click my phone in the bluetooth window it brings up a properties page with no useful information on it, but under services it says "android sms" and when I put a tick in the box it tries to install another driver but fails to find it. I've looked around and can't find one for it anywhere. It's a generic CSR 4.0 bluetooth 4.0 dongle.

The CD that came with the dongle has something on it called bluesoleil, and I did try using it but it's terrible and seems to disable the windows bluetooth stuff and put its own over the top. That I don't mind, but for the latest bluesoleil software that supports call and sms handling it's another £20 and I resent having to buy it when it should have been shipped with the dongle in the first place (which was only £5 anyway!) When using bluesoleil, it doesn't have any problems with drivers and I've tried pulling the driver out of the program and uninstalling it to get back to windows bluetooth stuff but I had no luck. So anyway, does it sound like a knackered dongle or am I doing something really stupid to stop it working? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Welcome to SF jimbo1531.
I'm no Blue Tooth expert, but when a device won't work I try these steps.
Uninstall any driver or software associated with it, reboot and see if Windows Update will find and install drivers.

    Thanks :)

I spent a good few hours yesterday doing this, uninstalling, reinstalling, and windows does find the drivers fine, but there's always one missing and I think it has something to do with not wanting bluesoleil installed. Its confusing and doesn't seem to support file transfer unless I pay £20 for the upgrade. Kinda defeats the point of spending £5 on a dongle! I've tried searching for the driver using hardware id's but there doesn't seem to be one that looks right, and i tried googling all the codes I found under hardware id's in device manager but none of the searches turned anything up.
