"Battery Indicator"

Recently I've been getting a pop-up on booting up my old computer that says:

"BATTERY INDICATOR HPID09
Access Violation address 00401C62 in module 'BATINDICATOR.exe'
Read of address 000002DC"

I hear it's something to do with the hardware? If so what is it and how do I correct it?

Hi Chips,

My name is George from Dell Social Media Team. The reason why you are getting that error message is because the battery on the motherboard has “died”, so you need to get replaced. You will find the procedure for removing and installing a new battery at this link Re: keep getting warning 'battery indicator - HPID09 - HP Support Forum

Sorry for my late reply, but thanks for the info. What effect does a faulty battery have on the workings of the computer?
