IOMEGA External Harddrive stopped recognizing after system restart.

I had to restart my computer after installing something, upon logging back in the light on the back of my external stopped working and it stopped recognizing. But I can still hear it spinning. Can I fix this? If not how do I recover my files?

Hello Carbomb and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please post a screenshot of your expanded Disk Managment. It may give a clue as to why your external Iomega is no longer being recognized. Perhaps it no longer has a drive letter associated with it, or something else.

i had the same issue with a iomega, it would show up eventually after trying a few restarts, when i finally got it to show i copied everything off it to a different external, and i havent used it since,
if you manage to get it to show you may want to do the same,
personally i feel it cant be trusted with my data, so until i can try it in a different enclosure then its redundant.

I'd have to agree with boohbah. The IT dept where I work bought a bunch of Iomega externals a few months ago. They had to replace all of them due to a very high failure rate (they said roughly 3 out of 4 failed.)

have you tried rebooting , i would try several times , maybe try ejecting it via the safe eject and plugging it back in, try a different usb port, keep at it until it shows then remove your data
