My computer didn't boot up today. It's a relatively new machine, the oldest part is the motherboard (about 1.5 years), an ASUS with am3 processor socket.
After pressing the power switch, the computer seems to work fine, however no boot beep sound is made. I have no other option of interaction other than hard resetting.
So I removed the RAM cartridge, just for testing sake, and expected to hear long beeps after turning the power back on. That didn't happen, the computer still remained silent.
I tested removing the mobo battery for once and turning it back on, and yet it had no effect what so ever.
Then I waited 10 minutes and turned the machine on again, and it worked - the mobo sounded the beep, and the computer booted just fine.
I've been dealing with hardware problems ever since I bought myself a PC, but this time I am hardly sure what's the faulty piece doing this. My bet is it's either the PSU (which I doubt, it's barely 5 months old) or the motherboard.
Either that, or my computer is developing its own will to function properly whenever it wants (I've been thinking of this possibility for years now
