Intel SSD 520 Series, RAID Question

What is best if I have 3 240GB Intel SSD 520

Raid 5 - Gives me ~480GB with some redundancy if an hd fails, costing some writing overhead

Raid 0 - Gives ~720 GB but no redudancy

Raid 0 + Hot Spare - Is there such a card?

My motherboard has 2 Sata 6gb ports, so I will need a new Raid Controller to go into Raid 5 mode, can anyone provide any hints to a good inexpensive 6gb raid controller to support 3 SSD ?

    Thanks

RAID 5 also introduces a write penalty for parity calculations.

RAID 0 with a hot spare...no such thing.

SSD's are too expensive to use in a RAID array. Just run 3 stand alone drives and enjoy your 720GB of SSD storage space.

I agree. The sooner people get the idea of RAID on a desktop out of their heads, the better. You won't see any performance increase by running those drives in any kind of array. I would do as suggested, or sell one or two of the drives to buy a spinner, if more storage is needed.
