I see you did see post #25.

When you ran WD app, was the drive connected via USB or SATA?

Check out post #25 (I think you may have missed it).

When I get a disk like this from someone the first thing I do is clone it to another drive. That way I've always got a copy of it in case something goes wrong with the testing/fixing of the original.
yes I read post 25 and replied..

one problem is that I dont have another HDD right now... my data in the disk does not look bad thought

I checked the specs for that drive at the WD website. When connected via SATA you should have access to SMART data, unless the SATA port you're connected to is managed by a RAID controller or something like that.

Do you know if the board has something like RAID?

Some boards have RAID built in, even if you don't utilize it. Whether you use it or not, if it has that feature it will block WD app from retrieving SMART data. What kind of msgs did WD have for your other drives?

Also beginning to wonder about SATA port and cable issues. But then again, you even ran into problems when you were connected via the USB adapter.

Most every drive has it, and it's almost always turned on by default.

Just checked specs on your board; it's RAID capable (if I got the right board). Check out this link:

NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI MCP

Go through the manual for it to see how to access it. When you gain access to it it will likely have a way to check SMART (I think the RAID firmware actually uses data from SMART in managing the drives connected to it).

It mentions RAID in both my link and yours. Do you have the manual for the board?
