Hello Everyone,
I have got a real problem, and would appreciate it if all you gurus could take a look at my question. I recently performed a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. After doing so, I now experience the following problem:
On a Dell P991 [Trinitron] display, when it displays a full page of white, such as a Word document, or a Web page, it immediately dims it to more of a gray / white. They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words, so I have attached 2 pictures to show what I am talking about.
As you can see from the pictures, when a Word document is displayed at full screen, it has an off-white (grayish) color. But when you view the Word document in a small window on top of my desktop wallpaper image, you can see that all of the colors are pretty true, and the Word document is bright white (as it should always be).
I have re-set the Monitor to the factory settings which did not help. I then fiddled with the GeForce graphic card settings, which made the colors out of whack, so I reverted those to 'let the application decide' how to manage color. I ran the Windows color calibration and set everything properly. And, I searched the Internet several times but came up with nothing.
The only thing I ran across is that a different display had something like 'Automatic Contrast Levelling'. Although I don't think this is the issue here, it is obviously some control that is dimming down the display when it is all white (or mostly white). My system is running the Dell P991 driver from Microsoft, is set at 1024x768, true color (32 bit), and 75 hertz.
Thanks for your kind consideration of my problem. I look forward to hearing your replies and suggestions.
Take good care,
