    Shutdown problem, tried everthing!

Few days ago my rig started acting up when I shut it down after the normal few seconds the display turns off but the computer itself will not shut off.
I have run antispyware in safe mode as well as in normal mode also the same with the antivirus too.
Even done a system restore back before it started acting up but nothing. Anyone else had this ever or any suggestions/hep would be good.

    Is the PC overclocked?

I remember having a similar problem a long long time ago and it was down to a bad overclock.

Hi, I did solve it after a long battle with my rig, did clean install minimised the software install.
But the problem was still there, I then started taking hardware out bit by bit till I found the culprit which turned out to be my Icy Dock usb3 which I have had for a while and never caused any trouble before I changed it's usb port tried all of usb 2 & 3 still the same.
So now I just leave it turned off till I need to use it.
But I still have no idea why it does this but hey part of computing isn't it.

if the usb device was powered from another source that was still active when the PC is shut down, the power from it goes the other way around and keeps powered some components on the mobo. (which is annoying)

Ah right, thanks for that. weird tho as it never did it before changing my motherboard.
Just started doing something weird too! I shut it down and within 20-30 seconds it boots back up again, can't find the reason for it doing this.

Are you saying you changed the motherboard and after that these problems started?
When you changed the motherboard did you re-install Windows?
Or, did you just use the Win 7 that was installed for the old MB?

You could look through BIOS and disable anything that can Wake the computer or restart it.
Each MB BIOS can be different so i would just look through every setting looking for these options.
