I have a different question regarding loading a system backup to a new SSD. If i have a laptop, and i make a set of recovery discs, can i then replace the 5400 spinner with an SSD and then load the system recovery discs to get it back to the OS and my preferences, or will this not work properly?

If that was my machine and I had an image, I would put the new mobo in with the current hard drive and see if it boots up.
If it does, the I would just use paragon migrate to clone to the SSD.
This way you will have 1 image and 2 working os drives so if the SSD fails, you can just run off of your hard drive and be up and running again in a few minutes.

A new clean install takes so long with all the updating. I just did this a few days ago on a friends machine.
He had issues with his machine not booting and got a new mobo and it still wouldn't boot in safe or normal and recovery wouldn't work, so i told him to get an SSD so we could do a fresh install and not mess with his original drive.
The updates seemed to take forever.

You should start your own thread for your question/issue.
Adding a new question to this thread will only confuse the original question/issue for this thread.
You can reference (link) this thread in your new thread if that will help get an answer to your question.

Respectfully,
