Headphone jack light?

I have a red light in my headphone jack when I'm using windows 8 but then when I get back onto Windows 7 (dual boot) the light doesn't turn on. Does anyone know how I could turn it on?

My guess would be that there's no driver for it yet in windows 8 other than the generic driver that windows 8 uses. What is the make and model of the head set you are using?

I bet you the port doubles as an Optical S/PDIF port. Very common these days. The red light is the light source for the optical cable. Its on in Windows 8 because of a lack of drivers.
