Changed CPU, now my fan is running fast and loud

I have a Gateway GM5632e desktop. I replaced the Q6600 to a Q9650 CPU and now my heatsink and fan is running super fast and loud even though the temps stay in the 40 degree range. I checked into the BIOS and I'm not seeing anything to change it besides a few very unclear options that I've tried and has done nothing. The BIOS are Intel and the motherboard is a DG33SXG2. Any ideas on what I can do to slow it down or set it to automatic?

Flash this bios on your system if you really want that cpu to work: http://global-download.gateway.com/G...SKTOP&Step2=GM

Note: Bios flashing is risky and if you lose power suring the flash, then your system will most likely be bricked (nonfunctional) Also, do not use ANY applications on your computer while this bios is flashing. When it tells you to reboot, reboot immediately.

I guess I'm just going to stick with the old one until I can afford to upgrade the CPU, MOBO and Cooling system. Or just buy a new barebones kit.

    Thanks for the help

Your welcome. You can always flash the bios if you really want that cpu.
