If you still have the same motherboard,

Acer Support: Welcome to Acer Support

Click the link, or paste it into your search box & find your PC. Look for the Manual and download it, that will tell you how to get into the BIOS.

Bertison, it's a Gigabyte motherboard, not an Asus, and the direct link to the manual has already been posted earlier in the thread (by myself). There is nothing in there related to this issue of the powering of USB devices when off. Perhaps it could be in some other manual/sheet that came with it but is not internet accessible.

There are "Power On By Mouse" and "Power On By Keyboard" options in the Power Management Setup section of the BIOS menu. You could try setting them to Disabled if they aren't already. I didn't see any mention of jumpers for the USB power so if this doesn't work you may be SOL.

...which is why I stated that the device manage interface would not help - but I should have suggested that the OP check anyway. Doh!

They are disabled by default. Any other ways?

I'm talking just my monitor...Not the PC being in sleep mode. I want just the keyboard to turn on my display when it's in power down mode. I have gone into device manager and deselected (under mouse) the Allow This Device To Wake The Computer option but that doesn't work. This is for Windows...

Turning USB socket power off and on
In theory powered USB sockets (maybe USB2 and later) can control the power if the hardware supports it. I don't know if my H/W supports this function, but that's a mute point as I've never found any S/W that implements such control. Has Windows7 made any advance over XP in this arena? This...
