Windows 7: Question About MY PC

Over the weekend I upgraded my PC. New DVD R/W, new motherboard, new RAM and new CPU. See my specs at the bottom. The only old things that remain in the PC are three expansion cards. I have a USB 2.0 card which I am going to replace. I also have a graphics and sound card. The picture and sound are fine in my opinion, but when I did the Windows Experience Index, they got a low rating. I got them when Windows 7 came out in the fall of 2009. I was considering trying the on board graphics and sound. Looking at my specs, do you think it might be an improvement to try the on board and take out the cards?

I wouldn't put too much time or effort into worrying about your WEI score. That being said, if you aren't playing any games, the onboard video should do the job just fine. I'm not sure how it would compare on WEI scores, but I don't give them any thought or worth anyway.

As far as sound, unless you are doing any kind of music production or need several inputs, onboard sound would be fine, too. I haven't used a dedicated sound card in a few years, and I game with a 5.1 setup.

I think that Soundblaster you have is identical to the one I had up until 2 or 3 years ago.

It broke and I then went to on-board sound and never noticed any change. Actually, I'm better off with on-board sound because that means I don't have to deal with Creative Labs ridiculous driver support.

I got rid of my video card when I upgraded to Sandy Bridge 18 months ago and don't miss it either.

WEI shows 5.1 for Aero graphics and 5.6 for gaming graphics for my on-processor graphics---for whatever that is worth. The graphics does everything I need very well.

Thanks for your input. I will junk the sound and graphics card first chance I get. I appreciate the info.

@BigMack Onboard Sound and graphics are good enough for daily use

I honestly can't tell the difference unless im using a powerfull speaker set up

Some onboards sound and video are better then the actual sound card

My Board came with THX onboard and I am very happy never looked in a direction for a seperate card

I think you will notice it isn't much of a difference betwen the two Mb Makers are getting better at it
