    Windows Disk Management hangs when I hit Shrink Volume.


    Hello,

    Windows Disk Management hangs when I hit Shrink Volume.
    I have never had this problem before...
    Plus this is a new computer, haha.
    Any ideas guys?

    Specs:
    1TB SATA HDD
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    HP p6823w

    Check whether the 'Disk Defragmenter' service is set to 'manual'. If not, set it to manual.

    Yes it was on manual. Anything else I should check?

    Maybe some .dll is out of wack. Run a sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt. Maybe it can fix it.

    In the reliability history/reliability monitor there should be a red X for this event. What does that say - and if there is a 'view technical details', have a look at those too.

    Microsoft Management Console stopped responding and closed.

    That all that happened today.

    What do you think we should do?

    Well... that didn't work.

    But I did find a fix!

    Step 1: right click your partition.
    Step 2: Mark as active
    Step 3: hit yes.

    And done
