    First off,

How did you format your C: drive?

    I recommend using this method:

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Secondly. Have you tried manually installing all the drivers? From what I am understanding, you are unable to do a windows update?

Well on the distortion problem, that seems like to me it would be a hardware problem.

Have you tried to use a Ethernet cable and hardwire to the internet?

Hello apfcmpsb. Welcome to the forum.

Some more information about your system and problem would be helpful. Please fill out your system specs under your Sevenforums profile.

Also would help if you could describe what your Device Manager looks like. Any yellow ! or red X's? You can post a screenshot of the Disk Management window also.

What was installed on the laptop previously? Was it W7 or was it Vista or XP?

The drivers on the laptop CD are usually old and keyed to the original operating system. If you are installing W7 for the first time on this laptop then you will need to find and download the most current drivers for your machine that are made for W7. And you need to get the drivers that are for the 32 bit or 64 bit version of the operating system, depending on the version of W7 you installed.

Installing the wrong version of the drivers can cause problems such as yours.
