About the type it's HP 128 GB Flash Drive
exFAT is very much supported in Windows 7 so it should have been working.
It looks quite likely that the drive is bad after all. Well assuming that OTHER drives work fine in the same computer? If more than one drive doesn't work, then maybe something wrong with the USB port or cabling or something...
ok well, other Drives works properly. However there is an update here I added a file to the Flash Drive 1.37 MB and it worked. I could read and write the file.
Try to do a full format by removing the checkmark on quick format. This will check the flash thoroughly. You can try different formats one after other. I prefer NTFS.
As you can see the exFat option in format dialog box, it is very much supported in Windows 7.
After the format copy some files and do CHKDSK on it and verify there are no errors. Then try the flash in different USB ports on your laptop and also on other computers. Do a trial and error method to isolate the problem.
well Reformatting it to NTFS without checking the quick format takes like 50 years to finish. I wish if i can format to NTFS :/. another strange thing happening to me is the subfolders always appear to be empty in my flash drive.
It will not take you fifty years. Start the format job and take a coffee break or a stroll. Don't stare at the monitor. Let it do its job. 128Gb flash will take some time to complete the format. This is the way to do it.
I swear the progress bar is moving so slow, i feel like breaking the PC now xD. I will keep the PC on for 12 hours and see
Hi Jalouly,
I will go with Layback Bear. You probably got a fake HP 128GB Pendrive. These are available for $2 a piece.:)
128GB/64GB/32GB/16GB HP Mini USB flash drive pen drive memory stick (China Manufacturer) - Portable Storage - Computer Accessories Products
( I searched for genuine HP 128GB pendrive but couldn't get any. HP does not make any pendrives. Genuine HP pendrives with HP Logo are generally sourced from PNY and carry the PNY part no. Just about a week ago I discarded my HP pendrive's original packing. PNY)
Please do not waste your time. Return the pendrive to the vendor and get your money back.
