Ide problems for both hdd and dvd/cd drives

Ok im new here so if i make some mistakes just bear through, this had started a couple days ago when i had a random reboot and upon start up i had no visible dvd/cd drives, my dvd drive is on the primary ide Chanel and my cd drive is on the secondary they are both ide,so i look around a find some threads this happens when registry gets corrupted and i have to delete upper and lower filters, i go to the place in the resistry where this is supposed to be and there is nothing there so i figure this is not a software issue, so i try to plug in my old hdd(running winXP) that is ide, no avail, i go into the bios and it doesn't matter whether the hdd, dvd, or cd drive is plugged in it will not be recognized, the bios screen says nothing detected, this cant be the removable hardware problem, 3 different disk drives and a hdd, i don't think so has anyone had this problem, and yes i have changed ide cables, changed jumper pins to master, slave, and cable select, i have built my system so i know my way around a computer Ive looked at the pins on the drives and the mobo nothing is bent missing or out of the ordinary........any help appreciated
