Alright so, tried installing our printer on this system again (had to clean install earlier in the month) – didn’t work. I just got done doing this not too long ago on my mom’s Vista laptop for the same reason, without the installer disk (we’ve misplaced it) however, it simply will not work on my Win 7 x64 that way for whatever reason. The driver
installs and everything, but it’s just not getting me to the WiFi setup. I can’t even remember how I’d done it on my mom’s laptop.
Wound up having to restore to a previous point on this system because after I’d uninstalled this thing, and tried again it gave me some crap about the Microsoft XPS Document Writer thing and wouldn’t install the driver for this printer again, telling me I’d have to reinstall the XPS (which doesn’t make sense, as it was still listed in the Devices and Printers – hopefully that mini-restore fixed it).
That said I seem to be having some extreme Hyperinsulinemic-Hypoglycemia attacks (excess blood insulin not related to diabetes) this past week and so it is entirely possible the problem is just my inability to think very well right now. So just need a little hand-holding through this here, please feel free to do so as if I’m a little kid because that’s how I’m like right now (blegh). I really need to print out some things for an Endocrinology consult on the 30th so if we can sort this out before then (and save me the tremendous PAIN of transferring the files to the other system to print), that would be very awesome.
P.S. if it is relevant to why I’m having this issue, the “Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant (Windows)” file under “Software”, within the “Windows – Windows 7 (x64) DOES NOT WORK. Trouble shoot set it to compatibility but even that and “Run As Administrator” won’t get it to open and run. Just flashes something up, and disappears.
