Why are AMD GPU's better than there CPU's ?

So coming from a die hard AMD fan, I upgraded today. I didn't want to put had to in order to eliminate the bottleneck between the HD 7970 and the 1090T. Was getting major FPS drops in Battlefield 3 with this set up.

Now, with the i7 3770k, the performance has dramatically increased so im happy with that !
It's a shame, AMD have it in them to compete.

Just wondering why they are competitive in there graphics cards and not there processors ? and why are they up there with Nvidia ?

AMD has made a series of bad decisions dating back 8 or 10 years, in management decision-making, in engineering design, and in partnerships.

They recently made a public statement to the effect that they are no longer trying to focus on competition with Intel:

AMD to shift competitive focus away from Intel, still committed to x86 - TechSpot News

I'm sure the company's problems have been the subject of many discussions in various MBA programs around the world. I haven't looked, but I imagine there have been books written on the subject.

Type "decline of AMD" into a search engine and start reading the links.
