C5180 printer not printing after moving from windows XP to 7

We had our HP c5180 printer installed on a windows XP machine. I recently moved it from there to our Windows 7 machine. Since moving it, i've tried everything i can think of to get the printer working (first on the network, then directly attached to the computer).
Most recently: i can print a test page from the HP solution center software. Still can't print from any application. The printer status does briefing show the document showing up, then it goes away (like it printed successfully) but nothing prints.

I have: checked cables, reinstalled the drivers and walked through the the solution center and windows printer helps. Everything indicates the printer is in working status.

Ports: the printer is connected on USB001 (in the port window it shows LPT1 and USB1 as "virtualization").

    Any thoughts?

Did you download the drivers from HP?

    Yes, i downloaded from HP.
I also have noticed that a copy of the printer shows up in Printers and Devices. I "remove printer" and it comes back. Maybe this is a clue? (it comes with the yellow exclamation point). I am printing to the i set as default.

Looks like you got a driver problem.

If the driver was the problem, would i be able to print from the HP Solution Center Software?

Check out this HP help page.

Can't Print? Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Click on the Windows 7 section and read the entire thing. There is a HP print doctor program that might help.
