Windows 7: Problems after updating to 64 bit OS

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1

I have tried installing drivers already, no luck. I have multiple DVD of windows 7 64 bit and I format the partition before I install the version of windows. Both have the same results. Ive tried the windows repair, but none of them seem to solve this :/ Both have the same results. However 32bit works fine.

What are BIOS settings? could that have anything to do with this or is that a misconception?

As long as your bios settings are at the defaults AND
you use this tutorial (pay attention to the part about using diskpart and th clean command)
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

then you will have no problems (assuming you actually have 64 bit Win 7 DVD).

I tried following those instructions, but I'm still getting the same result. The network adapter and sound card are there, but don't work. Ther rest aren't being detected. Im guessing the only way now is to show it to someone or stick with the 32 bit version, unless someone here has another trick up their sleeve. Thanks for all your help guys.

Moose,
Look on the MS certified hardware list to see if those are approved for 64bit operation.

Marvell offers drivers for your network controller:

Marvell - Support - Driver Downloads

I have no way of testing them, but I assume that they'll work.

MooseMirza, if I were you I would also be wondering why my hardware that's supposedly 64 bit capable cannot run properly with a 64 bit OS.

But then again I'm wondering why you decided to try 64 bit to begin with. What extra functionality are you expecting? Are you planning to increase memory above the 4 GB you've already got?

I've used the windows upgrade advisor to see if my hardware will work with 64bit, and everything is good. I've even tried reinstalling with a friends DVD for windows 7 but still no good. I went back to 32 bit to check, and everything worked automatically.
I've also tried offline updating for windows, and now the sound card is detected, but only static comes out..

I've tried going into device manager and manually installing the network driver, but I've had no luck. What else can I try?
Run a scan with slimdrivers to find compatible drivers.

Worked for me when I was in a similar situation to what you described

@F5ing well I see what you mean but can't 64 bit handle a higher load of information much quicker than the 32 bit? Plus I use many programs like Photoshop that have a 64 bit version, and if I'm not mistaken, Ive read that it's quite a bit quicker

@bobkn I've tried downloading the network driver. The thing is, it's there, but not functioning. It's really odd.

@mangoh that sounds like an interesting program, will try for sure!

@nooks I looked through that, my video card is listed, but the network adapter, motherboard and sound card aren't, however ms upgrade advisor gave everything a thumbs up for 64bit, is it the same thing?
And I only have 4gb atm, but I didn't know it only supports up to 4 :/ I didn't expect that. Thanks!

with 4GB memory is not that much faster.. i'm using 32bit, for some time used 64bit there is no difference that i can see.
64bit has advantages it can address more memory (and assign more memory to single program).. there is some other advantages but they are not noticeable.. and there is disadvantages too.
BTW i would not call 32bit>64bit an upgrade.. first its only clean reinstall.. its more like architecture change.
