    Hard drive wont initialise

i have a 800 gig western digital 3.5" hardrive. i was busy copying files then it failed and wont startup again. it shows in disk management as not initialised but when i try to initialise it says incorrect function. other forums say the drive is dead but does any one know of any solutions for this? thanks

Check western digital website for their hard drive checker and run it to check the drive.

Sounds like bad news. Especially if it failed in the middle of a transfer. Try a USB/SATA adapter on yours and another machine if possible. If those fail... you may be looking at an unrecoverable (sans clean room and special equipment) drive error.
