this is in part a problem of my own making.
for some time the Sata ports on my Asus P8Z68-M-Pro have been in decline. Port 5 had been blinking in and out for some months causing the 3 Disk RAID 5 to degrade and require re-building. inconvenient but not a show stopper. (the disk would not dissapear but required being "reset to normal" in the Intel RAID interface.
This is until yesterday
Port 2 and 5 failed causing the RAID to report status of "failed"
rebuilding is not bringing the drive back and I have shut the machine down for fear of further corruption
I need advice from here forward - unfortunately the Board is now discontinued and I am looking at moving the hardware to a Z77 board. 2 questions
1. Is it at all possible to recover the RAID data - I am confident that there is no HW issue with the HDD just the SATA ports on the board.
2. My OS is on a RAID 0, if I pick this up and move it to a new board keeping all other components, is it likely that Windows 7 64bit will accept the new change and boot as normal?
thanks in advance to anyone who has some experience with this.
