Connecting a second monitor using a TRENDnet USB/VGA KVM Cable

I recently purchased an HP Omni 120; it doesn't have a VGA port but plenty of USB ports, and I found a TRENDnet USB/VGA KVM cable and I attempted to attach it to my computer an external monitor, but an error message popped up saying that it doesn't recognize the driver.

I learned that KVM is hooking up multiple computers with the same keyboard and mouse, but I wanted to know if I could use this cable for simply extending my display onto a second monitor without purchasing a KVM switch -- is there a driver or alternate method that would work? Or is there recommendations for a good, cheap USB/VGA cord?

That is what you need. I actually used two of them for a clients laptop to enable a triple desktop for his stock trading program. Your monitor needs to have a dvi port though, it's a wide white multi pin connection, that looks like the end of the startech adaptor.
There are other models that do USB to VGA if that is the only connection your monitor has.
The cable you purchased wont work for what you want.
