hey guys i have a problem about the memory
i used to have win7 32bit, 4gb installed 1.7gb usable.
people suggested to upgrade my OS to 64bit so i purchased a 64bit win7 ultimate OS
same thing is showing

current specs
win7 ultimate 64bit
4gb memory installed (1.7 usable)
to filter replies, i already check msconfig>bios>advanced options>
maximum memory (unchecked)
im running out of ideas need help thanks
The only thing a 64bit OS will get you is being able to use the full 4GB of RAM or more. However, depending on the hardware and what it is using it could remain the same, like you are seeing.
Generally, out of 4GB, usually you wind up with around 3GB of useable memory (usually 3 to 3.5 but I've seen some go as low as 2.5GB).
If the BIOS shows the full 4 GB and Windows properties also shows the full 4 GB then it has to be what the OS and hardware are using.

My guess is that your video card has no memory of it's own and is using a big chunk of your 4gb though it does seem a bit high!
My video card shows up with its 2 GB and additional 3 GB out of RAM and even so I see my installed 16 GB in the settings.
I would hazard a guess, did you accidentally click on the x86-install button when installing the new Windows? Happened to me once and I was quite angry with my tardiness as I had to reinstall immediately. Well, I learned to enjoy a certain "slowness" during OS installs
Some BIOS need the "Memory Hole Remmaping" or memorry adress configurations enabled so you can use more than 3 GB of RAM in the PC, maybe your BIOS has something like that?
