Windows 7: Diffrence between Windows 7 Ultimate prices

Hello, I was wondering what the difference between Windows 7 Ultimate 219.00$ and the 319.00$ one?

For $319.99 you get the full version of Windows 7 Ultimate.
Whereas $219.99 you get the upgrade version for Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate.

Find out if you really need the feature that Ultimate comes with. That's alot of money to spend if you don't need the functionality. I think too many people think that Windows 7 Ultimate is far superior because it has Ultimate in the name. If it wasn't for the fact that I got a free copy of 7 Ultimate by attending the "New Efficiency" launch program, I would have not purchased anything more than Professional for my needs.

Very true, I'm considering getting home premium because it's basically the same but i'm not sure yet.

Yeah, most people are just fine on Home Premium. I think most people on Ultimate either 1). Got it free like me 2) Pirated it, and if you get a pirated version, chances are it would be the highest version possible 3). Bought it simply because it sounded more impressive 4). Actually needed the language pack features.

Very true, I want to buy it because it sounds better it doesn't have any real value to me otherwise.

I bought the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade (retail) when I rebuilt/upgraded my box. The Home Premium Upgrade works fine for upgrading from XP or Vista per Microsoft, they're wanting to move users from XP to 7. It was priced at $89 along with a $10 off coupon from Newegg total cost $79. I'm very happy with Windows 7, I chose to use the 64 bit version, you get both 32 and 64 bit CD's but you can only use one version with the product key.

The upgrade version isn't less than the full version as far as functionality, if you have an OS to upgrade from it should be fine.

Well i'm thinking of building my own so I wouldn't have a OS to upgrade from. But I do think home premium will work but obviously it doesn't sound as good as ultimate does. I know it's silly but it just sounds better.

^ Have you considered buying a "technet" subscription and using this software on your computer? Buy a TechNet subscription

It's a great way to get a hold of alot of software and you can eval it on your home computer for personal use for as long as you want.
