Xbox 360 Controller Not Smooth Input

Put this in here because instead of the gaming forum since it seems to be a system-wide issue since it happens with multiple applications as opposed to just one game.

Okay, so this has been a problem I've had with multiple computers for a while so I was wondering if it's a bug with my setups or if it's just how the Xbox 360 controller generally behaves in Windows.

For example, in Skyrim, with the 360 controller attached, controls feel slightly delayed and the action isn't smooth at all, at least not compared to playing Skyrim on an actual 360 with the 360 controller. It's mostly evident with the right control stick (don't worry, the actual controller is fine - works perfectly on Xbox 360).

To better explain - if I try moving the right analogue stick in a circular motion to look around - the result is that it really jerkily, like in a square, moves right, then down, then left, then up as opposed to actually doing a circular motion, and generally switching from looking from say up to, say, looking right, is a mess.

Any help? Initially I thought it was a DirectInput/XInput issue but I've since updated all of those and it's still jerky...

Sorry about not updating once I found the fix...

Fix was, buy a new 360 Wired controller. I thought mine was official, but it wasn't - there was no X in the middle of the Home button and no Microsoft label anywhere. Buying an "official" 360 wired USB controller fixed the issue completely.

I thought as much, i looked into it more deeply and it turns out the microsoft drivers do not fully support third party controllers, mine is the same as yours, no cross on the home button. thanks for replying anyway and i'm now off to buy myself an official controller!
