DvD drive (BD-ROM Drive (I:)) not reading disks

Hey there.

Recently after receiving my computer after it being worked on a bit, my computer hasn't been reading Cds and DvDs.

There hasn't been many things done to the computer after it being worked on (RAM clocked to normal speed, dust cleaning. That's about it).

The drive is being recognized in both Device Manager and Disk Manager and I'm pretty certain that the IDE and power cables are connected correctly.
I've been in Regedit and deleted the Upper filter in regedit but with no success.

I've tried many different sources on how to fix the issue, but none have worked, even the Microsoft Fix-it tool. A source on how to check if it works through the BIOS...but truth be told I have no clue how to check it within the BIOS; I'm not really that good with the computer "itself". I only know how to enter BIOS, really.

Here's my system specs (thanks for the little handy System info tool! I'll be using it from now on )

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz

Thanks for any help

What is the status of the drive in the Device Manager? Does it show an error code or does it show working OK?

If has a code, post back with the code. If it shows working OK, RIGHT click on the entry for the drive and then LEFT click "Uninstall". Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect and reinstall it.

If its not showing up at all, check the cables on the rear of the drive, both the data and the power cable (and both ends of the data cable) as one of the cable could have been disturbed/disconnected during the cleanup.

It shows up ok.

I forgot to mention that I already tried that method to no avail. I'll try it again to see if anything has changed.

Go back and double check the cables, since it apparantly was working before it was cleaned up. With the PC powered off, opne the case and reseat (unplug then plug back in) the data cable on both ends - at the drive and at the motherboard.

Did you check whether it is able to read BDs?

Is it a burner? Manufacturer and model???

Oh, sorry for the late response guys.

I actually managed to open the computer case, and fixed a lose connection toward the CD drive(though I thought it wouldn't do anything).

Thanks for the help I'll mark this as solved.
