Does your notebook of the option of a USB connected DVD Player?

I have never tried. I have no clue. It should. It works with a SATA Drive with SATA to USB Cable.

Latest Update:

The funny situation is the DVD Reader/Writer even sees CDs/DVDs it wrote as blank.

I am writing a CD or DVD from the same drive. It finishes writing. After that, it sees it as blank.
I am putting the CD to another computer and the other computer shows all the files.

So, there seems to be no problem with writing, but there is a problem with the reading, and I haven't found a solution yet.

Sounds like there may be an issue with the DVD drive itself. Possibly bad.

Is the notebook still under warranty? If so, you might take it in to have the physical DVD drive checked.

It would be interesting to see if you could use your burning program to burn a CD or DVD with the verify option turned on, forcing it to read what it burned to verify that it wrote correctly.

No, it is not.
Yes, DVD drive may be going bad. Strange thing, it writes fine. I guess writing and reading are completely different process for the drive, especially since it is not able to read in other operating systems too.

Sorry that I missed that point. If you're booting other OSs on that machine and encounter the same issue with that drive, I have to say it does sound like the drive itself has issues.

No, you didn't. I had tried that before you wrote your message (before my post starting with "Latest Update").
I tried it with both CD-Rs and DVD-RWs. The CD-R's were for both drive testing and writing a couple of CDs that I needed. About the DVD-RWs, I can rewrite to them anyway.

Another update: Today; I had my hands on a DVD Movie, and it plays it.
So, I don't know. Either my CD-Rs and DVD-RWs (all of them) got affected with the heat, humidity, etc. [They are all kept in a nice shell.] (to check that I will need to get new CDs/DVDs to write and test).
Well, it is a good thing that it reads DVDs.
If I get my hands on new CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, I can check if it will read what it writes to those new ones.
