memory showing in windows

Hi all my computer motherboard has a max memory of 8gb. i install 12gb when i boot into windows 7 64bit it says 12gb. will the computer used all 12gb or only 8gb

If the motherboard only has a max of 8gb, then it will only use 8gb.

Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium SP1

Enter your BIOS setup and on the first tab see what it says for RAM there.

But if Windows is reporting 12GB then it certainly can see 12GB.

Have you ever updated your BIOS?
