Windows 7: Touchpad will not work when keys are pressed

Touchpad will not work when keys are pressed

I'm using a Samsung NP300E5A-A02US series 3 notebook, with Windows 7. But when I try to use the keyboard and mouse at the same time (to play games) I can only do it if I hold down the Ctrl key. I've checked my mouse settings and there was no option for palm check, so I don't think that could be it.

In case it helps, the touchpad is ELAN PS/2 Port Smart-Pad. Does anyone have any ideas?
