USB Devices slow at boot up

Hi, I have a USB issue going on here. I currently have all Logitech devices hooked up to my computer, a G-13 gamepad, G-15 Keyboard, G-930 Headset, Webcam C600, an Epson 845 workforce printer...and a few others.

I installed 2 x 120GB SSD's in a RAID 0 Configuration. Computer starts up and I'm on my desktop in 13 seconds!

Problem: It takes up to 1-2 minutes for me to be able to use my keyboard.

What I have done so far: Removed all USB devices except for Keyboard and Mouse. and I still have this issue, so I don't see a conflict with any other devices. However, I don't remember if I actually uninstalled the devices and/or drivers..I have tried the Microsoft Fix-it tool, I also tried cleaning my Drive of all old and temp files.

I never noticed this when I just had a normal HDD installed, but then again, it took a few minutes for the computer to even boot up to desktop...where I usually went and made a cup of coffee or something else till it was up and running...lol

I can upload any Event logs or what ever is needed to help in the fix of this issue..

I'm wonderning if it's some sort of Microsoft update issue? I didn find that this update: KB2529073 was causing some issues, and I uninstalled (rebooted) it and still have the issue.

Any ideas?

I'll look into this...but someone else suggested I may need a bigger PSU...I'm running a 850w one now...

Longshot. Try disabling Legacy USB in bios.

I looked into this and I saw that I had Legacy set to AUTO, so I changed it to ENABLED and so far, it worked like it was supposed to. I'll keep you up to date..


@whs: Thanks for your suggestions! I actually forgot to mention that I had already tried different keyboards and the PS2 types (which I can't buy anymore) worked perfectly!

1. Is it only the keyboard or the mouse too? Sometimes the Mouse too.
2. Did you try another keyboard. Yes
3. If the mouse works and you have no other keyboard, try the on-screen keyboard. Put it into the taskbar for easy access - from All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access. Sometimes can't use the mouse, so this option won't work all the time.

@Snakeyeskm: I'll look into your option next, as for now, it seems to be working..but then again, I only restarted it a few times since I changed the USB option in my BIOS...

Update: I changed the BIOS setting to all three settings (Auto, Disabled and Enabled) and still stays the same.

I have since Formatted and started again. This time trying to see if it was software related or what.. It's not software related, well not any conflicts that I found. It has something to do with Windows updates somewhere, but there are 93 of them installed, which means, I'm going to have to start all over again installing them one at a time and restarting...that will take days...but if I want to fix it, then this is what I have to do..

Unless someone else has a better idea?

THEN make sure you have your keyboard and mouse drivers installed: Support + Downloads

If you have some of these drivers already, consider uninstalling them first. That way you will have a fresh install and the newest driver available.

Do all of this. While updating with windows update, you might do 5 at a time. I thought in your first post you said you knew which update caused it? Keep in mind you can use restore points if you need to: System Restore

I did say I found something in my original post, but it didn't work. I will try all these steps..However, I think there might be something going on with my MOBO...the devices in question light up and turn off during the boot process and I have a co-worker who built the same rig with the same devices and he don't have this issue...Even to get into the BIOS, I have to be quick to hit the DELETE key or else I miss my opportunity..So, its leading me to believe it could be MOBO related...which my BIOS is updated as well..

As far as the updated Drivers from ASUS, I have the latest that they have to offer..and the same goes with Logitech...all newer ones from there...
