uncompatible hardware---instant shutdowns.

hello, i have a system spontaneous/issue shutdown issue. i have swapped out all my pc and htpc components out to a point that i genuinly believe that no single component is responible but that off a combination. The pc in my sig is the one in question.

my first question. can a motherboard with a compatible cpu (6-core) work with in-compatible ram? (incompatible as in NOT in the motherboards memory Qualified Vendor List (QVL)). Would it cause an instant random shutdown that would cause the system to refuse starting back up untill after you connect all power from the system?

thank you for your time.
