    motherboard choices.

at the moment im using the rig in my sig.

im looking to upgrade my motherboard without changing cpu, graphics card and memory. My memory is currently not compatible and my current mobo doesn't seem to support more than 2gb chips. I also have no need for overclocking. i dont know how and prefer guaranteed stability.

The asus crosshair IV is my guide so i obviously looked at the crosshair 5.

    my question is:-

    - What motherboard would you suggest at the same level as the crosshair 5?

The Crosshair IV Formula is supposed to take 4GB DIMMs, up to 4X4 (16GB).

There are no 16GB kits on the QVL for the board, but Crucial lists one:

Computer memory upgrades for ASUS Crosshair IV Formula Motherboard from Crucial.com

I assume that the IV was a fairly expensive board. I hope that you can find a better one, if it's really necessary.

    i like these two:-

    - Asus Sabertooth 990fx (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Socket AM3+ 8 Channel Audio ATX.. | Ebuyer.com

    - Asus M5A88-M EVO (Asus M5A88-M EVO Socket AM3+ onboard Graphics 8.. | Ebuyer.com

Do you think these are overkill for what i require?

thank you for your time btw.
