    Marie,
One problem was caused by language differences. Here the abbreviation for gigabyte is GB.

Do you perhaps have a dvd/cd clone program installed? they can cause part of what you are seeing.

Let me answer a couple of other posts and I'll be back.

    Marie,

convert your Firelite and Indigo drives from Fat32 to NTFS.

Convert FAT32 to NTFS with no Data Loss

Go to an elevated command prompt and run CHKDSK T: /r
where T: is an example you insert the letter assigned to one of your drives presently formatted as FAT32.

If any errors are show, then run the command again. If errors continue to show, then you need to move the data off and throw the disk away.

Run chkdsk over both drives. the /r option is not really an option in your case. You must use /r

    ======================================================

Now both of your disks have passed chkdsk and we can proceed to convert.

Once again go to an elevated command prompt.

Here is the command you want to run this time:
    CONVERT T: /FS:NTFS

where once again you substitute the drive letter of one of your fat32 disks.

    ============================================
    ============================================
Go To an Elevated Command Prompt

Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator

WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
in the PROGRAMS list, right-click on CMD.EXE |
    choose "Run as administrator" |

Click on the YES button (if such appears)

WIN key = key with Microsoft log on top

    for the guru:
    WIN | type CMD.EXE | CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER key combo | ALT+Y keycombo

    Hi Karls.
    Sorry for the delay.

If i remove Firelite and Indigo device, then actualise their removal in the the device manager, (both in hard drive and USB section), the problem is still the same.

It is not with these two disks (that are not always plugged) that I have problem.

It is with the five blank drives in Drive manager, and the WPD error that this cause in Device manager.

I maybe blind, but I quite don't understang how converting two (well working) diks (listed clearly in disk manager) will remove five blanks disk attribution previous to their installation.

By the way, I noticed that these blanks (phantom) disk also appears in Bios booth, and that the Bios sometime give error message, saying that "they are nos partion in the 0 drive", were are Windows and other data...
But strangely, Windons open, works properly and so.

Insn that a way to delete obsolete blank disk from the registry, or with a disk management software, as windows one refuse to do it ?

    Hi Karl,
    Sorry for the delay.

If i remove Indifo et Firelite drive, then actualise their removal in Device manager (both drives and USB), the problem is still here.

    I don't need these diks.
And to be honnest, I don't understant how converting these two (workin) disks will remove five unrelated blank drives, existing since Windows installation.

Indigo and Firelite, are clearly nommed and atributed in device manager, with size and all.

The problem is not with these, (they work fine), but with the 5 blanks unnamed and useless ((phantom) drives in disk manager, and the WPD problent they cause in device manager.

Is'nt that a way to remove them from the registry?
Could'nt a drive management software (magic partition or else) remove blank drives?
That sure would be closer to the problem.

By the way, I noticed that theses phantom drive appears in Bios boot...
That bios say that it cannot open, beacuse de O drive have no partition, eventought it does and contain Windows, data and so and have partitions.
And that strangely, Window open quite smootly, and works properly.

    Thank you again.

Finally a solution, and soooooo easy !

    Hi,
    Incredible but true !

After monts of useless tattempts, i finally reinstalled (clean installed) window seven integral.
Of course, all the sames problems occured again (phantom drive, WPD error and so)

BUT, this time. I founded the easiest solution.

First I deleted the HP recovery, and merged another void (emty) partition with C (OS) disck (with Paragon software)

And second, I used a little piece of software Slim Driver(freeware avalaible on cnet)
wich founded (and choosed) seven missing drivers.
    Among them were the WPD

    A dream.
No more phanton misk, no more WPD problem... And so easily.

Thank you all for your help !
And if some have these annoying problem, give this solution a try .

    Amanda.

Nice job sticking to the task! Congratulations.
But it does raise the question: why were there missing needed drivers in the first place?
