Dual Graphics cards but only 1 gpu's Graphic memory Hello Forum, im CrazyKilla
Yesterday my 2nd GeForce GTS 450 arrived, i put it in the pc, set all the wires up, i even put SLI on my 2 graphics cards, and now i got 2 graphics cards, but the problem is, (GTS 450 has 1gb graphics memory) i got 2 GTS 450s but i only have 1gb of graphics memory, how does this work? i should have 2gb graphics memory!
I know that the graphics card is working as the FPS in my games has boosted a lot and in the "Display Adapters" section in "Device Manager" it shows i have 2 GTS 450s,
Help please, i have latest drivers for both cards, do i need to install any special things or have i done something wrong here? | My System Specs |

It would show each GPU seperately.
Click the drop curtain I have circled in yellow in the picture below and both cards should be listed.
Click each one for details on that card. I don't think it will give you a total GB of memory.
It is not like RAM where you get a total of all slots added together.
I think you will find Windows 7 only recognizes the primary GPU in the WEI rating system and other specifications.
Windows 7 just does not report the SLI for specification purposes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hopalong/ Godzilla OS Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit CPU Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Motherboard ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Memory 8GB@1400MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 4x2GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 Sound Card VIA Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Asus VS248H-P 24"; Samsung SyncMaster 941BW 19"ws Screen Resolution 1920x1080; 1440x900 Keyboard Logitech K-320 Mouse Kensington PSU COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W Modular Case COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Cooling Scythe "Mugen-2 Rev.B" (2 ScytheKaze-Jyuni PWM fans) Hard Drives Samsung 830 120GB SSD

well it shows both GTS 450s, the new one by EVGA and old one by PNY, both gpus 1024MB, but why can't i merge these graphics cards and make PC think its like just 1 big GPU, and then shit should work faster and i should have more graphics memory, why should i be limited to 1gb? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU Intel i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz Motherboard MSI X79A-GD45 8D Memory 24GB Graphics Card 2xNvidea GTS 450 SLI Monitor(s) Displays HP w2408h 24" monitor Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Case Cooler Master 912 HAF Cooling Intel Water Cooling for CPU, 6 Fans. You are not limited.
Windows just does not report SLI in the specifications.
The second card is used in the games or the FPS -frame rate- would not increase over a single card.
Each video card uses its own memory it is not added together as RAM on a motherboard. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hopalong/ Godzilla OS Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit CPU Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Motherboard ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Memory 8GB@1400MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 4x2GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 Sound Card VIA Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Asus VS248H-P 24"; Samsung SyncMaster 941BW 19"ws Screen Resolution 1920x1080; 1440x900 Keyboard Logitech K-320 Mouse Kensington PSU COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W Modular Case COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Cooling Scythe "Mugen-2 Rev.B" (2 ScytheKaze-Jyuni PWM fans) Hard Drives Samsung 830 120GB SSD

quick question, can i have both cards inserted into the motherboard, then 1 card connected with the wire and the other just connected to board and to the other card with SLI (1 card with wire 1 without, both connected with SLI)?
And does that mean im stuck with 1gb until i get a GPU with higher graphics memory? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU Intel i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz Motherboard MSI X79A-GD45 8D Memory 24GB Graphics Card 2xNvidea GTS 450 SLI Monitor(s) Displays HP w2408h 24" monitor Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Case Cooler Master 912 HAF Cooling Intel Water Cooling for CPU, 6 Fans. If you need more than 1GB, you'll need cards with more VRAM (each). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number homegrown OS Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1 CPU Intel Core I7-3930k Motherboard Asus P9X79 Pro Memory 16 GB Gskill DDR3-2133 Graphics Card eVGA GTX680 Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium Monitor(s) Displays As PA246Q Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Keyboard cheap Logitech USB Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (old optical) USB PSU PCP&C Silencer 750 Crossfire Case Silverstone FT02 Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives Corsair Force GT, 120 GB
