Processor for HD small minicomputer?

Wondering what processor is better equipped to stream and play HD video to an HDMI port... AMD E350 or Intel Atom?

Im looking to purchase a mini pc to attached to my TV to play HD video with VLC and stream from the net. Currently I'm looking at Foxcon, Zotac and Asus Eee pc's. Trying to stay under $250.

This is a good alternative for a mini PC for streaming video.

I was using WD TV (1st gen) from Western Digital for playing HD video, Audio and Photos from USB connected external HDDs, for the last 3 years and was very happy with the performance. This had HDMI, Composite output and Optical audio to connect to a home theatre.

Three days ago, upgraded to WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (3rd gen), with HDMI output and streaming capabilities. This player now comes with Wi-Fi (b,g,n).

File Formats Supported

Video - AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), MPG/MPEG, VOB, MKV (h.264, x.264, AVC, MPEG1/2/4, VC-1), TS/TP/M2T (MPEG1/2/4, AVC, VC-1), MP4/MOV (MPEG4, h.264), M2TS, WMV9, FLV (h.264)

And the price is just under $100 and I highly recommend it.

Sounds great, but I'm looking for a small PC so that I can run VLC, Winamp and stream from net and my cloud drive...looking to use a blutooth keyboard to do minimal PC stuff too.

Try this review.

Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player - Third Generation - Review.

You can connect a USB keyboard also to this device. It can do almost everything you need in multimedia except function as a PC.

If you still wants a PC then go ahead. Good Luck.
