    Motherboard or Processor defunct?

    Hi,

Just got a consult from my aunt regarding her Emachines desktop.

Did a bit of troubleshooting to find a beeping noise on the machine.

From my understanding, it is not going through POST so it's either the motherboard, processor, RAM or the GPU that's not functioning.

Removed everything starting with the RAM = beeping
    Removed processor = no beep
Put processor back in = beeping
    GPU is on-board.

Beeping is a continuous one second 1-1-1-1-1.....

    Is this processor defective?

    Thanks in advance. :)

Never got the chance to power it on while it was working and I can't get any info on the motherboard. It seems like this was manufactured solely for use by Emachines.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

Made by ECS for Acer. This looks to be the retail version of it,

    ECS Web Site

It has a AMI bios chip on it so if yours has the same, time to start counting how many beeps and then use the AMI chart from the link I posted.

And no you won't be able to use the ECS bios.

Hey, just got around to booting the thing again.

It's just one never ending long beep.
