Maxheadroom spoke of adding a second triple channel kit, which preserves triple channel operation.
I ran basically that on an Asus P6T Deluxe (not V2). I had to back off the timings a bit, though, to get stable operation. You might get better performance with 3X4GB. (Motherboards sometimes do better when you don't populate all the RAM slots.) There's only one 12GB kit on the QVL for the board, but there must be many good sets that Asus hasn't got around to testing. (
