Anyone have a P55 board set up yet?

    I am getting a Core i7 860 tomorrow. Also a Gigabyte P55-UD4P motherboard and some Mushkin 1600 RAM (7-8-7-20)

It should give me a couple of years of good use. (I hope)

Has anyone got a P55 setup yet. Anything bad or good you have heard about the platform.

I like to try new things. I could have got the i7 920 and a decent X58 board. that's boring. haha

I am hearing the i7 860 is right up there and even outperforms the 920 in some cases.

Anybody have any experience with Mushkin RAM? I was told to try it out. My friend seems to think I will be pleased with it.

I'm also wondering if anyone has a P55 board you have run into anything strange.

    Thanks

I don't have one (yet) but I have only heard great things about the P55 chipset and especially the i7 860 processor. Be sure to let us know how it goes

I will keep my Sevenforums family posted. I have read only good about the platform too.

The thing everybody is saying is that the future for "enthusiasts" is in the X58 platform but with the performance of the i5750, i7860, and i7870 is GREAT.

The only "downside" is the highest performance ever available MAY be the i7870. (which is not too shabby)

The i7860 however seem like it's right up with the best.

I guess I will be one of the first to try it out. I was hoping maybe someone has done more research than me and could give me some info. It should be fine.

    Any info would be appreciated.

I am going to try for something like THIS!!!

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnW158tBmXk"]YouTube - Core i7 860 4.4GHz[/ame]

    The i7 860 @ 4.4Ghz

    WOW!

Also, if anyone has even an opinion about Mushkin RAM. Let me know. I have never had any experience with it. It seems to have good reviews but I don't know anything about it. I went with it on a recommendation.

Well after a week or so I have to say....the new i7 860 is a dream come true!

I have not really figured out the "turbo boost" yet. I have Intel's "throttle down" options turned off for now and with turbo boost on, it idles at about 3Ghz and goes to about 3.4 under load.

It overclocks better than I would have dreamed. I am glad I didn't get a 920 now. I came very close. The 920 is fine but I'm having more fun with the new 860.

The P55-UD4P Gigabyte is a fine motherboard. I have nothing bad to say. I wish there was a power switch on the board as I spent a couple of days on the bench but it's in it's home now and works great. All the other features more than make up for no power switch.

The Mushkin 1600Ghz 7-8-7-20 memory is better than I thought also. I am very happy with the whole setup.

If you're looking to upgrade, take a look at what you can get from the P55
