    Front USB 3 Panel freeze pc.


    Hi

    last week bought a new pc.
    but a problem happened 2 time for this new pc for me is that sometimes when i connect a flash driver into front panel usb 3 suddenly windows crash and freeze.
    even i can't restart pc after i push restart bottom in case the pc turn off.

    some one said me never us that front panle usb port. it may crash your mainboard.
    my case is green x7 cougar

    now anyone has any idea?

    So, are you saying you plugged a USB 2 capable flashdrive into a USB 3 port and you're wondering why your rig crashed??? .....

    In bios under USB configuration, I think in the advanced menu, do you have legacy enabled? Have you tried that USB drive in a USB 2.0 port? USB 3.0 is backward compatable with USB 2.0, but some motherboards require you to enable legacy to do it, for some reason. Yours is one of those. Even still, the computer shouldn't crash.

    Found this: Why doesn't Microsoft support USB3.0? ...... IMHO this USB3 backwards compatibility support is not only Windows driver dependant but also USB2 Flashdrive memory controller version dependant. Personally I only use USB2 ports for USB2 devices.......

    That just means that windows does not provide drivers for USB 3.0. Your motherboard drivers do. You did install the drivers for the motherboard, didn't you? If not, If you have the Asus P8Z68 V-Pro/GEN3 they can be downloaded here.

    tnx for replies.
    but i use a usb 3 flash silicon drive and all usb 3 drivers installed too.
    in the bios too the legacy is enabled
