new <bad hard disk> errors, pics attached

Been battling this Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop on and off for couple months now. This is my most recent post, which ended up being solved because I purchased a refurbished hard disk from a reputable online retailer. I activated the new Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit software over the phone and I was off and running. Two days later, it started acting funny. It would shut off suddenly. Finally I had to run startup repair muiltiple times and it said it couldn't be fixed with startup repair. The following are the pics I took of the error boxes:

If it is indeed the "new" refurbished hard disk I can still return it for another one. Does that appear to be the problem to you?

in recovery environment->command prompt:

Code:
chkdsk/f  q:
post results

Replace Q with actual drive letter

Code:

diskpart
list vol
exit
look at the sizes and drive letters. Now you know drive letter of Windows 7

there is a portable version: CrystalDiskInfo Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives but I believe the only solution is to remove the damaged laptop HDD, place it in a Hard Drive Dock and connect the Dock to your desktop for HDD testing.

Probably more money/effort than the situation is worth.

Best advice: RMA the damaged laptop HDD. If you can't run Windows you have nothing to lose.....
