    125w CPU in a 95w mobo?

I just recently bought an AMD FX-8150 125w

I was wondering if i would have any long term issues with it in my GA-78LMT-S2P REV 4.0, Chipset: 760g mobo
The mobo specs say that it only supports up to 95w processor

When i first installed the CPU it was displayed as an AMD FX-8150 @ 2.8ghz
I went into the bios and manually clocked it to stock speed at 3.6ghz

    and feedback would be appreciated

As you say, that MB only supports 95W CPUs, and the 8150 is not on the supported list:

    GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Socket AM3+ - AMD 760G - GA-78LMT-S2P (rev. 4.0)

You will almost certainly fry your MB after a time. I'd warrant sooner then later. The voltage regulators at the least will not stand up to it. It seriously could cause a fire. I will defer to our hardware experts, but the fact it is running now is probably very lucky. A Guy
