"create my own barebone computer kit".

Hmmm. Not sure I ever heard of that.

Barebones are usually pre-packaged groupings of 3 or 4 primary components, such as case/motherboard/PSU and don't allow you to choose EACH AND EVERY component.

    OverclockersUK has barebones:

Systems & Bundles » Systems » OcUK Value Barebones - Overclockers UK

They also say: Note - If you would like to make a small change to the specification call our sales team on 0871 200 5052 and they will be happy to help. The lead time on all pre-built barebones is between 24-48 hours.

And also a configurator where you can pick and choose components:

Systems & Bundles » Systems » System Configurator - Overclockers UK

If you want to choose ALL repeat ALL components, use the configurator.

If you want to choose only SOME of the components, including the CPU, you need to find a "barebones" that has no CPU, but will accept a Phenom.

It seems that most UK providers do not do "barebones" of any type.

The barebones offers vary from time to time. If a supplier does not have a Phenom-compliant barebones kit this month, they may have one next month.

The only advantage of barebones is possibly on price.

I'd keep looking at OverclockersUK, or call them, or try to find another barebones supplier, or don't bother with barebones.
